How Africa Calendar uses your information

You can generate and print a holiday calendar without creating an account. This policy explains what we collect, what stays on your device, and how to reach the operator.

Last updated: 21 September 2026.

Who is responsible

Africa Calendar is operated by Collins Odeny from Kenya. For privacy questions, email contact@africacalendar.app. There is no separate privacy team, no data broker, and no user-account database for core calendar use.

No account for core use

You do not need to register, sign in, or provide a name to browse holidays, customize a calendar, or download PDF, PNG, SVG, or ICS files. Core use works without an Africa Calendar user account. I do not issue passwords, and I cannot reset an account that does not exist.

If you later see a sign-in experiment, this policy will be updated before any account data is collected. As of the date above, there is still no Africa Calendar login.

Information stored on your device

The app stores preferences in your browser’s local storage so the calendar looks the same on your next visit. That typically includes selected country and year, theme, language, layout, week-start, and any custom dates you add. These values are not uploaded as a user profile. Clearing site data in your browser removes them.

Print, PDF, PNG, SVG, and ICS exports are created in your browser and saved to the place you choose (usually Downloads). Share cards and QR links, when you use them, are also created locally. I do not receive a copy of a wall calendar you export unless you attach one in feedback on purpose.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 through Firebase Analytics to understand which pages are used and whether exports succeed. The current measurement ID is G-B9YEYV41BP. Google may collect device and usage information such as page views, approximate location derived from IP, browser type, and events like country selection or calendar export. This helps keep the product useful; it is not used to sell a personal profile.

Optional feedback

If you send feedback from the studio, the message, type, and optional email or screenshot are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) so Collins can read and reply. Provide an email only if you want a response. Do not include passwords or other sensitive data in feedback.

Advertising

When ads are turned on, Google AdSense and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where Google’s settings allow it.

Cookies and similar technologies

Africa Calendar itself does not set a first-party marketing cookie. What you will see in a typical browser is a mix of local storage (ours) and third-party cookies or storage from Google if analytics or ads run.

Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information. Processors that help run the site include Google Firebase (hosting, analytics, and optional feedback storage) and, when ads are enabled, Google’s advertising tools. Legal requests or protecting the service may require limited disclosure.

Firebase Hosting serves the static files. Firestore stores optional feedback messages you submit. Google Analytics records page usage. I do not use a separate CRM, email-list vendor, or advertising network besides Google. ICS feeds you subscribe to are fetched by your calendar app from this site; that app’s privacy rules are not mine.

If you email me, the message lives in my inbox (and any backup I keep to answer support). Delete requests for an email you sent should still go to the same address so I can find the thread.

Retention and your choices

Analytics data follows Google’s retention settings. Feedback is kept only as long as needed to handle the request. You can clear local storage in your browser at any time. To ask about feedback you submitted, or to request deletion of an email you sent, contact contact@africacalendar.app.

I cannot delete Google Analytics rows that never included your name. If you use a browser with tracking protection or an ads opt-out, that choice is respected at Google’s end, not by a custom Africa Calendar “do not track” switch — there is no such extra switch today.

For a privacy question, say whether you mean analytics, feedback stored in Firebase, local storage, advertising cookies, or an email you sent. That lets me answer without guessing.

Children

Africa Calendar is a general public-holiday tool. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes in a material way, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the site after an update means the revised policy applies.
