Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Africa Calendar (africacalendar.app). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.
Last updated: 14 September 2026.
Who operates the service
Africa Calendar is operated by Collins Odeny as a personal project (contact@africacalendar.app). It is not a government agency, not a registered payroll service, and not affiliated with the Ministry of Education or any other state body in Kenya or elsewhere.
References to “we”, “us”, or “the site” mean Collins Odeny operating Africa Calendar unless the context clearly says otherwise.
Acceptance of terms
By visiting africacalendar.app, using the calendar studio, downloading exports, or subscribing to feeds, you accept these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you use the site on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization.
Continued use after an update to these terms means the revised terms apply. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
What the service provides
Africa Calendar offers public-holiday lists, planning tools (long weekends, working-day counts), printable calendar layouts, ICS feeds, and related informational pages. Holiday dates are compiled from third-party holiday data and manual corrections I keep with the project.
School-term dates where published are copied from cited Ministry of Education circulars or similar official documents. The interactive studio requires a modern browser with JavaScript enabled. The same written terms appear on this page whether or not scripts have loaded.
No professional advice
All content is provided for general information and personal planning only. Nothing on this site is legal, payroll, tax, immigration, or HR advice. Do not rely on Africa Calendar as the sole source for paid leave, exam timetables, court deadlines, or travel visa rules.
Employers, schools, banks, and governments publish their own observed dates. Their notices override anything you read here if there is a conflict.
User content and custom holidays
When you add custom holidays, themes, or feedback messages, you remain responsible for that content. Do not upload unlawful, harassing, or confidential third-party data through the feedback form.
Custom dates you enter in the browser are stored locally on your device unless you voluntarily send them in feedback. By submitting feedback you grant Collins Odeny a license to store and read the message in Firebase for support purposes.
Intellectual property
The Africa Calendar name, visual design, original explanatory text, and site software are owned by Collins Odeny or used under open-source licenses noted with the project. Holiday names and dates themselves are factual; the surrounding notes and layout are original work.
You may link to public pages and ICS feeds. You may print calendars for personal or internal office use. You may not republish large scraped copies of the site as if you authored them, misrepresent affiliation with any government, or remove attribution when sharing exports that include Africa Calendar branding.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to break security, overload hosting, scrape in a way that degrades service for others, or use automated means to bypass rate limits. Do not use the site to distribute malware or spam through feedback channels.
Ads, when enabled, are served by Google under Google’s policies. Do not click ads fraudulently or encourage others to do so.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Holiday and school dates may contain errors or lag official gazettes. Features may change or be withdrawn without notice because this is a personal project with limited support capacity.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Collins Odeny will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost leave, missed exams, or travel costs arising from use of the site or reliance on its dates.
If liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use Africa Calendar in the twelve months before the claim (typically zero because core use is free).
Third-party services
Hosting, analytics, feedback storage, and advertising may rely on Google Firebase, Google Analytics, and Google’s advertising tools. Your use of those services is also subject to Google’s terms and policies where applicable.
Links to external sites are provided for convenience; Africa Calendar does not control third-party content.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Kenya shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms or use of the site, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country gives you non-waivable rights.
Contact Collins Odeny first at contact@africacalendar.app to resolve concerns informally before pursuing formal action.
Changes and termination
Collins Odeny may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Africa Calendar at any time. These terms may be updated by posting a new version on this page.
If you violate these terms, access may be blocked at the network or application level without prior notice.
